Just How Small is the MicroLED Display Engine on Vuzix Next Gen Smart Glasses?

Tiny, advanced projection engine introduced at SID 2021

It turns out the future’s smaller than you thought.

One of the world’s smallest, most advanced MicroLED projection engines will power the next generation of Vuzix Smart Glasses.

But what does this mean?

Soon, your view of the world may be filtered by an AR (augmented reality) display. Yes, kind of like Tony Stark in the Avengers.

That display will be powered by a projection engine just 6.2mm wide - the size of a pencil eraser.

READ: How is Vuzix setting the global standard for device configuration?

Tailor-made for Vuzix waveguides (which are responsible for that intuitive, hands-free display), the device was introduced at the 2021 Society for Information Display Conference.

Businesses are adopting Smart Glasses en masse, potentially triggering interest among consumers. And no wonder, check out these incredible specs:

  • Less than 0.4 Cubic Centimetres
  • 2M+ NITS
  • Industry-Leading Power Efficiency
  • 1 Micron Pixels
  • 100,000:1 Contrast Ratio

Optimized optics

This miniature device offers several benefits.

Not only will it improve the device’s performance, it’ll give Vuzix engineers more ammunition in the fight for fashion. Smaller projection engines mean more stylish devices.

Expect the following sectors to benefit from this technological breakthrough, among several others:

  • Healthcare
  • Remote Field Service
  • Telecom
  • Events
  • Education
  • Manufacturing
